Free Nobel Laureate Lecture on March 13

A Nobel Laureate Lecture open and accessible to all members of the general public will be held on Monday March 13 at 10:00 am at the Constant Convocation Center. The speaker is Dr. Bill Phillips, who won the prize in 1997. The talk will be on "Time, Einstein and the Coolest Stuff in The Universe" and will feature live demonstrations. As promised, this will be a talk accessible to all members of the general public. There will also be an afternoon session where Dr. Phillips will address general questions to an audience.

Dont pass up an opportunity to interact with one of the great minds in today's world!

CULTURAL EXPLOSION

Imagine an event with free ethnic food, free entertaintment, and free admission. Imagine an event, that showcases a diverse variety of student organizations performing spoken word, mini fashion show, greek segment, singing, and dancing!!!! Exhibiting their Culture. On behalf of Multicultural Student Services, we would like to invite you to attend this year’s CULTURAL EXPLOSION. For three years, Cultural Explosion has grown bigger and better. Last year, this AWESOME event had over 1500 in attendance. Cultural Explosion will kick off this year’s Homecoming on Friday, November 11th at 7:00pm. It will be an excellent opportunity to view what ODU student organizations have to offer.

Halloween Costume Contest

I know this is a bit late, but you should have known it was coming! Its time for the 2005 CampusBlender Halloween Contest! It's the usual drill: whore yourself up in a costume, take a picture of it, and send it to Partyincollege@gmail.com Take pictures of your friends' costumes as well and submit them also. There are no requirements, just email your picture and a brief description of your costume, your username, and if you'd like your name associated with the picture or just be anonymous. Prizes are too be determined.

I'll give you up until Nov. 5th for submissions, then I'll post the worthy ones in a thread in The Party.

WELCOME BACK MONARCHS

As a site moderator I just want to say welcome back to all of our veteran users and an even bigger welcome to our new users. The point of this site is to bring fellow students together and to build our own community within the Old Dominion student population.

We have forums where we can talk about anything and everything including parties, the opposite sex, school, sports, and politics. We can also sell things to each other, get advice from each other, and an area called "Hookup" where we can meet other users. So feel free to talk about anything and contact anyone. Tell your friends about the site too. We are a fairly new site and the more people we have regularly using the site the bigger, better, and more popular the site will become. Consolidate your Student Loans NOW!!!

Interest rates on federal student loans will increase by 1.93 percentage points effective this July 1. The new variable rate on federal Stafford loans issued after July 1998 will increase to 4.70 percent for in-school and grace customers and 5.30 percent for customers currently in repayment. The rate on Parent Plus loans issued after July 1998 will increase to 6.10 percent. This increase will mean higher interest payments for you. Act Now and complete your application online before June 30, 2005 to lock in today’s historic rates as they may never be this low again. I will add some links for places that can help you with this process online to make it easier on you:

There are many other Loan companies out there, and you can even call up your current provider and they should be able to consolidate you quickly over the phone. Evan if you are still in school, taking 20 minutes to consolidate your loans can save you tens of thousands of dollars, do not delay!

Thanks to all who came out, participated, and got home safe! Also, thanks to our gracious hosts, and his neighboors for not complaining about the noisy drunkness all around them. Of course, our party would not have been complete without seeing Kevin naked and streaking, so a big thanks to him as well!
